Between Dust and Whispering Leaves

On April 2, Pragovka Gallery opened an exhibition at the Prague House in Brussels.

The exhibition Between Dust and the Whisper of Leaves, curated by Tea Záchová, presents works by ten current and former artist residents of Pragovka: Daniel Hanzlík, Anna Hulačová, Marie Ladrová, Robert Palúch, Vladimír Merta, Terezie Kusbach Kolářová, Veronika Přikrylová, Zuzana Růžičková, Pavel Ticho(ň), and Pavel Trnka.

In the exhibition spaces of the Prague House in Brussels, the artists showcase works that explore the conflict between industrialization and nature—both past and present. The exhibition addresses the tension and interconnectedness between industrial heritage and the natural environment. It reveals narratives of the industrial era that shaped the Pragovka site itself. The participating artists reflect on technological progress and the societal transformations that have influenced not only cities but also our landscapes.

The artworks approach these themes in various ways—through the collective memory of place, they explore dust, plaster, and imprints that serve as witnesses of the past and traces of time. Others use irony to comment on the disrupted natural systems that human activity has deformed. Some focus on the industrial past of the former Pragovka site, analyzing its factory history and its transformation into a post-industrial space that still bears marks of past lives, labor, and shared memory. Through these diverse perspectives, the exhibition examines the traces human activity leaves behind and how both nature and industrial landscapes continually shape our perception of space and time.

The exhibition becomes not only a visual experience but also an invitation to reflect on values, sustainability, and our shared responsibility for the world we are shaping together.

We would also like to extend our thanks to the Representation of the City of Prague in Brussels for this opportunity.
