The artistic community at Pragovka started forming around 2010–2011. At that time, the long-abandoned industrial complex began to attract the first artists moving in with their studios. The space, originally intended for industrial production, naturally began to transform into a vibrant center of contemporary art. A dynamic community soon emerged organically, organizing its first collective events and exhibitions.
Out of the need to provide structure and long-term development to these activities, the Pragovka for Art association was founded at the end of 2017. Today, it operates the Pragovka Gallery. In addition to its international exhibition program, the gallery organizes an international residency program, educational programs for schools and the public, and community events primarily aimed at the residents of Prague 9. An integral part of the gallery’s mission is the long-term support and development of the Pragovka artistic community.
