She studied and graduated in the drawing studio of Professor Jitka Svobodová at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She has worked throughout her life to confirm drawing as an independent and supporting visual medium. She has devoted herself mainly to drawing and, more recently, to the combined technique of watercolor and drawing. Thematically, she has moved from depicting specific objects, whose shapes she used as a meaningful abbreviation for depicting the fear of human finitude, to depicting important moments in a person’s everyday struggle with life and their idea of themselves against the backdrop of everyday life. The One Year cycle was a reaction to the transformation of her own body as a result of the author’s illness and became a logical starting point for her other works, in which she deals with intentional transformations. Partial metaphysicality has been present in Adamová’s works from the very beginning, but it only takes on clearer outlines in the Simulation cycle, which relativizes ideas about God and the expected ascension. She has had a studio in Pragovka since 2014. Kateřina Adamová’s cartoons stand out for their craftsmanship, which the author combines with serious, spiritual themes, which she brings to the viewer, spiced with her own unique humor. This is a mature artistic expression with a clear message and visuality.
