Lawrence Wells (1965) is an American painter permanently residing in the Czech Republic. He studied painting at Indiana University and received his master’s degree from the University of Mississippi (1992). Wells belongs to the first wave of American expats in Prague in the 1990s. He returned to the USA in 1993 and, after eight years spent in New Orleans and New York, has been living back in Prague since 2001. Between 2007 and 2008 he was a resident at Meetfactory. Recent projects (2023) include the joint exhibition of five artists She Sells Seashells in Pragovka, which he curated.
