Tamara Spalajković

Through docu-fiction videos, he traces the transformations of the relationships between people, animals and the environment in dynamic urban structures. Her residency project at Pragovka Gallery explores the de/generative intermingling of anthropogenic pressure and more-than-human plasticity through an examination of the development of a selected post-industrial site. Imagination is used to challenge prevailing narratives and perceptions of the area and to illuminate the site’s potential for multi-species coexistence. The residency project aims to develop alternative modes of narrative by experimenting with approaches to the visual and symbolic representation of the site through the medium of video.

An alternative vision of the site is constructed through a fictional narrative that specifically highlights the key role of resilience and agency of multi-species coexistence in reshaping the concept of coexistence. The narrative is constructed through a network of characters, each embodying a particular characteristic.

Spalajković also explores ways to involve civil society in decision-making processes related to spatial planning. Come take a glimpse into her artistic research and discuss the interconnection between art, ecology and urbanism.
