On July 22, we will screen the film Táhněte do Moskvy! in its original language with Czech subtitles, in collaboration with the summer edition of Das Filmfest – Das Sommerkino.
Zurich, autumn 1989. The fall of the Berlin Wall is imminent. Swiss police are spying on hundreds of thousands of citizens suspected of sympathizing with Soviet politics. A dutiful officer is assigned to save the country from a communist takeover and, as an amateur actor, infiltrates a group of leftist theatre artists. But the deeper he ventures backstage, the more aware he becomes of the absurdity of the farce he’s caught up in. The so-called “Fichen scandal” (Fichenskandal) was a real-life political affair that shook the Swiss political system and public trust in the state.
