Ioana Gheorghiu uses text and instruments from visual arts to operate within the strata of language, sound and body. In her visual art practice, she has a conceptual, slow and rhizomatic approach, intertwining a speculative practice with long term processes, experiments, and documentation.
She activated in local long-term platforms for performative research and participated in intensive international performance programs such as “Abandoned Practices” Program in Prague by School of the Art Institute of Chicago, danceWEB Vienna (part of ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival) etc. She participated in exhibitions and presented individual and group performances at mottobooks Berlin, Water Museum Timișoara, Matca Art Space Cluj, Asociația Minerva Cluj, NEW NOW art space Frankfurt, Rosas Studios Brussels, National Dance Center Bucharest, tranzit Bucharest, Anca Poteraşu Gallery, WASP, Lateral Art Space
and Pilot – Paintbrush Factory Cluj, Cultural Center Chorbadjisko, Immunology Lab Bucharest, Atelier 35, Platforma Space (National Contemporary Art Museum), Alfred ve dvore Theatre Prague, CIAC Pont-Aven.
