Konrad Gubała (b. 1999) – visual artist. A graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He creates objects, installations, sculptures and video works. A distinctive feature of his practice is his use of engravings and rub-outs made using polishing paste. In his work, he explores personal themes, focusing on the experience of origin and precariousness. He is interested in the tension between aspiration and limitation, as well as the ways in which the individual negotiates their position in conditions of economic and social instability. He is also interested in the memory of materials and their potential to retain traces of emotions, experiences and traumas. He describes himself as a ‘celebrator of failures’ – in his practice, failure becomes not so much an end in itself as a starting point for reflection and action. His works have been shown at numerous exhibitions in cultural institutions and private galleries in Poland and abroad. For his exhibition “Near Dark 2” at the Łęctwo Gallery, he received a special award as part of Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2024. He was a finalist in the 47th edition of the “Bielska Jesień” Painting Biennale in 2025. He took part in the “Rozbieg 2.0: programme.
