Renowned author Marianne Winckler wants to dedicate her new book to the socially marginalized working class in northern France who struggle with precarious employment. To capture the subject matter as authentically as possible, she hides her true identity and takes a job as a cleaner. As she immerses herself in the world of harsh and underpaid labor, she begins to understand what it means to live paycheck to paycheck—and what it means to be socially invisible. This working-class drama, posing a number of moral questions, was directed by Emmanuel Carrère and is based on the bestselling book The Night Cleaner (Le Quai de Ouistreham) by Florence Aubenas. The lead role is portrayed by the exceptional Juliette Binoche, who performs alongside non-professional actors. (source: Pilot Film)
