Lucie Vobr Jestřabíková

We invite you to an Open Studio with Czech visual artist Lucie Vobr Jestřabíková, the current resident at Pragovka Gallery. Come and see how her work is created, and enjoy a pleasant summer evening filled with art in the unique setting of Pragovka.

The Open Studio will take place on 19 August at 7:00 PM. We will meet in front of the gallery and then continue together to the studio.

After the Open Studio, we will screen the film When Will It Finally Be Again the Way It Never Was in the Pragovka Summer Cinema, starting right after the open studio ends.

Lucie Vobr (*1990) is a Czech visual artist whose work explores the theme of touch and its associated transformation through a destructive gesture. She does not perceive this socially controversial gesture as negative, but rather as a positive one – a way to give space to emotions and to allow for the creation of something new, perhaps even more useful. The outcome is often objects made from seemingly fragile materials such as paper, adhesive tape, and porcelain. These materials are transformed through meticulous and unique processing, for example by continuous and conscientious pencil scribbling on paper, until a visual transformation occurs – turning soft white paper into a hard, metal-like object.
