Konrad Gubała / The Wishing Table

We cordially invite you to the residency presentation and exhibition of the project The Wishing Table by Polish visual artist Konrad Gubała, taking place on September 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

In this project, Gubała explores collective memory and the traces of personal stories hidden in everyday objects. By visiting local flea markets, antique shops, and thrift stores, he searches for discarded furniture and old materials, from which he subsequently creates a series of experimental, partly functional, and partly symbolic sculptures. The work does not use new raw materials but relies on recycling and empathy towards objects with a past of their own. The result of the residency is thus not a traditional static exhibition, but a constantly evolving archive of found memories and material transformation.

Konrad Gubała (b. 1999), a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, creates objects, sculptures, and installations, frequently employing the technique of engravings and rub-outs made with polishing paste. In his work, he reflects on the memory of materials, social precariousness, and themes of his own origin. Although he playfully describes himself as a “celebrator of failures,” his achievements include a special award at the Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2024 and being a finalist in the Bielska Jesień 2025 Painting Biennale.
